360 MALL wins the 2012 NOI Enhancement Award in Middle East & North Africa Shopping Centre Competition for its “Towering Income” Campaign

The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) has recognised and honoured the shopping centre industry’s most cutting-edge properties, innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends, as well as outstanding examples of design and development throughout the world through its Global Awards programs. In keeping with this tradition, and as part of its exclusive shopping centre awards program, ICSC is pleased to announce ICSC is pleased to announce that 360 MALL, Kuwait, Kuwait, has been named a 2012 Gold Award winner in the NOI Enhancement category. The 2012 Middle East & North Africa Shopping Centre Awards are designed solely to recognise outstanding achievement in four categories: Traditional Marketing, New Media, NOI Enhancement, Design & Development, and Retail. Hit with news in November 2011 that regulatory delays would result in income losses in 2012, the mall management team of 360 MALL turned to speciality leasing to find income generating opportunities. The team responded by developing two new innovative income generating media vehicles and drove income through all possible opportunities. The effort resulted in generating income that far exceeded the target and also created future revenue streams.

Professional recognition for this project was given to Ismail Saddiq, speciality leasing manager, GLA Property Management Company WLL; Avijit Yadav CDP, CSM, CMD, general manager of marketing and operations, GLA Property Management Company LLC; and David Boesley CSM, COO, GLA Property Management Company WLL.

ICSC announced the winners of the 2012 Middle East & North Africa Shopping Centre Awards during an awards ceremony at RECon Middle East and North Africa, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In addition, the 360 MALL is now automatically eligible to win ICSC’s VIVA Best of the Best Award. The ICSC VIVA Best of the Best Awards, which recognise the shopping centre industry’s most cutting edge properties, innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends, throughout the world, will be presented during ICSC’s annual convention, RECon, May 19-22, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nev.

The 2012 Middle East & North Africa Shopping Centre Awards competition was open to shopping centre owners, developers, management companies, architects, designers, and retailers. For entries in the Marketing; New Media; and NOI Enhancement categories the majority of the program must have been implemented between July 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012. Within these categories, shopping centres which have designed and implemented the most successful marketing programmes and initiatives that added to a shopping centre’s or company’s bottom line are honored. Successful projects such as advertising campaigns, cause related marketing programmes, social media, mobile marketing, grand openings, sales promotions are recognised within the marketing category. The NOI category recognizes operations, leasing and the overall shopping centre management team.

For entries in the Design & Development and Retail categories, projects must have been opened within the time period of June 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011. Entries within the design and development category are recognized for outstanding design qualities and creativity in development, through renovation or expansion of an existing property or in the innovative design of a new retail project.

In the retail category, entries are recognized for the innovative and creative new retail concepts and overall design. ICSC announced the winners of the 2012 Middle East & North Africa Shopping Centre Awards during a ceremony at RECon Middle East and North Africa, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
